For video, my 8300HD is connected directly to my TV (Sony KDL-52w4100) via HDMI, and "Audio output" setting on the 8300HD is set to either "HDMI" or "Dolby Digital" - with same problem on either setting. Yes, changing the audio output to "Other" on the 8300HD removes the dropouts, but also gets rid of DD5.1. Not acceptabe to lose the digital audio.
