Since the POV 8400gs comes with an optional hdmi dongle, im going to go out on a limb and say it is for spdif passthrough for hdmi (if you can get the dongle). Just remember, don't use the 5v power pin on the motherboard/audio card on that. just use the signal and ground pins, though I don't which one is which on that card.

Hi everyone Hopefully someone can help with a problem I am havng with the HDMI sound output from my 8400gs. After a fresh install of Windows 7 x64, I install the drivers for my soundcard which is a Siig Soundwave 5.1 PCI (spdif connected to 8400gs)and sound is working through the HDMI output of the 8400gs.

Re: No sound GeForce 8400GS with HDMI cord. I got sound out of HDMI when I was using Vista with no problem. I cannot use the HDMI cord and the sound card at the same time now with Windows 8. To get sound I have to use the RGB connection and the audio card separately and forget the HDMI for awhile.
