I "upgraded" to the 9242 from a perfectly functional 9200 a few months ago and have had the sub-second audio drop-outs from day one with the 9242. Never had any issues with the 9200. I don't believe it has anything to do with the HD being fragmented, signal strength, or problems with the cable, etc.

For all those folks that have had their 9242 randomly reset on it's own and vary the audio volume along with it - good news ! On Friday Bell rolled out software version V195. It fixed BOTH issues and so far I cannot detect any other issues.
