There are some 9600GT cards that have an audio pass-through cable. It just takes the audio from your sound card and through some sort of cable it is connected to your video card. In turn, you can connect the HDMI adapter to the DVI port and I think you should be able to get sound through HDMI like that.

I have a Nvidia geforce 9600gt graphics card with dual dvi outputs. I'm using a DVI to HDMI adapter to connect to my samsung LCD tv.
