Change Audio format set to on with AC3 5.1 =>. system sound is stereo. Apple TV+ content is AC3 (but according to the description, it say encoding everything into AC3, which means, the AC3 is not pure! but encoded again! which is double encoded!) The apple tv 4 (tv os 9.1.1) connected to my iTunes library on macbook via home share will not output audio on the ac3 track as Dolby Digital but sends it as multichannel bitstream pcm. Yes this is surround sound, but without the Dolby Digital processing which is in the file already. Files all played fine over ATV3, suddenly on the ATV4 they don't.

AppleTV will pass through an AC3 5.1 audio track if it's a secondary audio track (with AAC the primary). You need to embed the audio into an m4v file and make sure all tracks have the same language setting (including "Unknown"), but you can use empty video and AAC tracks and just add the AC3 Passthru track as the only actual data.
