The sound worked at this stage. I then upgraded the OS to XP Professional and all worked well. I then proceeded to update the system on windows update. This is when the sound stopped working. I tried to enable it by using the sound properties but the controls were greyed out and I was told that no audio device was available.

so I installed drivers, Realtek AC'97 from Gigabyte website. But is still not detected but installed.. AC'97 in BIOS is already enabled, also windows audio in the service.msc, i already set the device to auto. But in the device manger, the Realtek driver is functioning properly aside from other mixers, synthesizers etc.
