The Adcom Gfa-555 happens to be one of the smoothest and most detailed amps I've heard and that I own 2. They compliment but, yet sound identical to my 2 Denon POA-2400A's. The GFA-555 has a little difference in sound than the newer Adcom amps like the updated model the GFA-5500.

On the downside, the audio performance of this device is a mixed bag. It does clean up the sound of digital sources, but does not work well with amplifiers. Like all Adcom products with which I'm familiar, the ACE-515 adds something very annoying in the upper midrange and treble regions.

After reading many favorable reviews on this sight and other audio forums, I found a used ADCOM GFP 565 on eBay for about $250. It showed up clean and in quite nice condition. After hooking it up a played several well-recorded pieces through it I was instantly impressed.

Like a lot of audio companys some products they put out are un inspiring at best. But ADCOM made the GFA 555 and it is one of the best "bang for the buck" 2 channel amps out there, even today used! ADCOM's GFP 565 pre amp is another great sounding product they made.
