AES is a subsidiary of Cary Audio. These amps were designed by Dennis Had the founder of Cary Audio. Comes with the Genalex KT77 tubes pictured and old stock Amperex EL84 and GE 12BZ7 tubes as well as a new set of Electro-Harmonix EL34 tubes. Six Pacs were sent to Cary Audio in March of 2019 to have them upgraded.

The DJH has a big output and matches the older AES amp designs better, which did not have a driver stage (just like the Cary non-R amps) the R versions as well as the MkII version has a more normal input sensativity. The new Superamp 2 has a good input driver stage and is very senitive.

My Cary has the Paper in Oil B+ and coupling caps option. I actually love it, though Craig's modded Mapletree Audio preamp ($600) definitely had better control on the bottom. However, what I like about my Cary is the midrange and upper treble, which I feel has an "airbrushed" quality to it.
