The AirPort Express is via a mini toslink->toslink cable to my McIntosh C2600's DAC. When I AirPlay to it from the phone occasionally I will hear a "skipping" in the music. I tried hooking it up instead using a 3.5mm ->RCA into an analog input and I don't hear the skipping, but the internal DAC otherwise doesn't sound quite as good.
