I recently tried out the Multimix 16 USB (NOT the newer and better USB 2.0 or Firewire models) and it just shows up in Windows as USB AUDIO CODEC. It doesn't have ASIO drivers like the 2.0 version so it's no better than a cheap little external USB soundcard that has one input and a stereo output.

I/O - Alesis USB Audio device. No other setting seem to have any meaning. Buffer can be anything from 64 to 1024 samples, no difference. Tried sample rates 44.1k and 48k, Linear and 6-point hermite interpolation. Here we go: Start with an empty project, add an 3xOsc, all is cool, plays nicely, no latency. Add a Keys, all is fine.
