I have a gigabyte mobo with onboard Realtek audio AL889A. This machine is used as a Media Center pc connected thru a Yamaha RX-V667. Everything worked great until I had a harddrive crash. If it only shows Stereo than you need to update the Audio driver, but your GPU is considered legacy not supported by AMD with updated drivers. If you have your 5.1 Audio Device connected to the AMD GPU, then AMD will provide the Audio drivers. If it connected to the motherboard, then the Motherboard's Audio driver are the one powering your 5.1 audio.

UG went fine and I even had 7.1 sound (and everything inbetween) and the Dolby Access demo even worked very well. I'm guessing the AMD driver is for the HDMI output on your video card, which can also carry audio. As this is digital, I wouldn't expect a stereo mix here either. Your best bet for a stereo mix is to download the Realtek HD audio driver and install it on the HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC device.
