I can get AirPlay to play YouTube videos from my iPad onto my TV through AppleTV. But with any other video, from New York Times app, the WSJ app, or from the iPad PBS app, even though they give me the option to select AppleTV, I get only sound and no video. The airplay icon on the ATV screen say Unknown/Untitled.

More specifically, this evening when we turned on our Apple TV, it worked fine. Then, we went to the HBO Go App to watch Game of Thrones. Everything was still fine and we could see the HBO Go Menu, select a series, and play it. Unfortunately, after starting the episode, the TV went black. We could hear the audio, but not see a picture.

HBO max issues after 15.3. Updated one of our ATV to 15.3 and now HBO Max is borked. Plays audio with no image, or just gets stuck spinning. So, I thought I would just airplay it from my iPhone- but it also won’t play that either. Plays fine on the phone and other devices. May want to wait for a new app release before you update your devices.

By default, Apple TV uses the best audio format available. If surround sound isn't working, try changing the audio format to Dolby Digital 5.1. To do this, on your Apple TV go to Settings > Video and Audio > Audio Format and turn on Change Format. Here you can choose Dolby Digital 5.1 (instead of Use Best Available).
I cannot get my Apple TV to output Dolby … - Apple Community

I got my new Apple TV and hooked it up. The HDMI cable goes to my Pioneer surround sound Dolby 5.1 receiver. I have the Apple TV audio settings set for Dolby 5.1. Every source on the Apple TV I've tried is only outputting stereo. I've tried HBO movies that I *know* are Dolby, but my Pioneer receiver says "stereo" on the front panel.
