The Apple TV works when I connect to a standard TV using an HDMI cable so no issue with Apple TV itself. I also connected my iPad to the monitor using a lightning to HDMI adapter then connecting via the DVI adapter and my iPad screen appeared on the monitor, so the monitor does work.
