I have been trying to solve this problem with a Bose 300 Soundbar. I was finally able to fix it by connecting the soundbar using both the HDMI and optical audio cables. The Sharp Aquos TV does not support HDMI ARC. When connected with just the HDMI cable the TV showed a volume control for the soundbar, but there was no sound.
