The Arcam doesn't have the volume control you need and the Audiolab I suspect won't suit, good as it is - its balance is more or less the same as the 8200. One alternative is Fidelity Audio's DAC-150, which like the M DAC has a very good headphone amp too.

I'd like a decent computer-focused DAC with an asynch USB input. I was waiting for the Audiolab 8200DQ, but now I have a lovely pre-amp I don't need or want the Q bit. So the question is, rDAC now or wait, possibly for six months or more, for the M-DAC? Any comments? Anyone compared the rDAC with the 8200©D(Q)?

Hey folks.I use Dynaudio BM5A Mk2 speakers going through an arcam rdac, into my PC via USB. Nearfield listening. I want to add a vinyl player into this mix while upgrading DAC, so, after some research, I'm looking into buying an Audiolab 8200dq, because it has three analogue inputs for connecting vinyl.

Arcam’s new rDAC is one such multi-purpose unit that, in this particular case, is the result of a unique partnership—and one in which a high-quality technological pedigree is instilled within. “We’ve always had a strong partnership with dCS. Share. Posted January 12, 2012. I've finally decided that it's time to upgrade from using my Marantz SA-15S2's built in DAC to a standalone USB (!) DAC for use with a Voyage MPD server. Considering my budget the three main competitors are Arcam's rDAC, Peachtree Audio's DACiT and Schiit's Bifrost. Now, I am aware that there have been enough ...

Arcam amps, Mission 753F speakers and compared it to the Arcam Rdac that was currently on that set up. First thoughts were the Mdac was better and it did sound good but after about an hour or two of A/B comparisons, I came to the conclusion they both sound different but I'm not convinced one is better than the other.
Arcam irDAC-II review | What Hi-Fi?
https://www.whathifi.com/arcam/irdac-ii/review
The Arcam seems to get bigger with every version. Gaining slightly in width and depth over the irDAC, the (only just) desktop-friendly irDAC-II is the size of a chunky book – and similar in shape too thanks to the aluminium casework’s rounded front. It’s solid in your hand and, while more practical than plush when it comes to aesthetics ...
