The Jota shows its hi-end soul to perfection. This is a fantastic, very well-tuned amplifier with a sound that ties it to the best amplifiers in the world known to me: the PAT-777 Harmonix/Reimyo and Ancient Audio Silver Grand Mono amplifiers. In terms of timbre it is closer to the former while on speed and resolution the latter.

The HC Jota runs almost silently—no tube rush, no intermittent gurgling, nothing unusual to note in terms of noise through the speakers. There is a residual transformer hum if you get physically close and listen for it, but nothing from the listening seat. It does run hot—keep your distance from the 520B-V2s and that middle transformer.

I agree with Misskuma, the CJ will probably assert it's own approach to sound over the Art Audio Jota. I've tried several preamps ahead of my AA PX-25 and the sonic influences are readily apparent. I ended up going with a passive transformer volume control to retain the transparency and tonal purity.(not suggesting you should do the same)
