I've got a PS3 slim, the Astro 5.8 wireless mixamp and the AudioTechnica AD700 headphones. The PS3 connects directly to the Astro via optical cable. When using the Astro I have to go into the PS3 XMB and select to output via optical as I have it set to output via HDMI to my amp normally. So, the Astro recreates 5.1 audio through the headphones.
