VIA released a new driver for Windows 8.1 version 6.0.11.100 WHQL. Install runs fine (but, funny enough you have to start it as an administrator, otherwise you'll get the famous "No HD audio device" found message) but the HD Deck configuration software confirms my assumptions: only three jacks on the back are shown.

The VIA HD Audio Deck is the configuration utility. It lets you set number of speakers, change jack functions, setup an equalizer,etc. Windows 8 didn't have driver for my onboard VIA sound. ASUS only had Windows 7 drivers, they worked in compatibility mode though. VIA had actual Windows 8 drivers so that's what I used.
