dvi and hdmi use the same digital signal, but dvi cannot carry audio. any sort of dvi-hdmi adapter means that audio will be lost unless if you find a way to add the audio back into the hdmi cable externally. you need a video card that has hdmi output and will allow you to input audio. that way the card will output in hdmi, while routing the incoming audio to the hdmi signal.
