Also, most TVs only accept LPCM 2.0 (stereo) over HDMI; you'd be lucky if it passed thru DD 5.1 from HDMI in to optical/coax out. The 4650 would have been better for playing BDs; however, you would also need an audio receiver with true HDMI audio inputs (not a low-end one with only "passthrough" HDMI inputs) to make full use of it.

I have an ATI RAdeon 4650 1Gb and I cannot get the HDMI interface to work properly. The screen resolution shows 1920x1080 but the quality is lousy. Everything works fine with DVI but not with HDMI. I have tested the HDMI ports of the monitor and they are fine, so I can only assume it is a problem with the card. Can you help?
