For audio output, you have to select the HDMI port as the default audio device. I can't set it as a default device because it says that it is not plugged in (even though it is plugged in). The default device part is greyed out. If it is plugged into a TV then you must select the HDMI port on the TV to play video and audio. I have done this also.

I connected by Windows 7 32bit system (ATI 4300) to my HDTV. Both picture and sound work fine as long as the HDTV is on and set to the proper HDMI port before the OS comes on. What doesn't work: If I start the PC before the TV is on then the Digital Audio (HDMI) device reports "Not plugged in".
