It was indeed AUDIO 50 APS, I managed to identify it from the cars navigation manual book: the version of navigation Head Unit of the MY2009/2010 has a very distinctive mark: the AUDIO 50 APS does not have PCMCIA card reader slot at the bottom of the Head Unit, the Comand APS does have!

The other option was to replace the Audio 20 in the newer car. I have been told that a COMAND retrofit is a job from hell, involving lots of wiring to the boot etc. However, my current Audio 50 is brilliant, and would do fine in the new car.
