The 50 APS can definitely NOT play MP3s. You'd have to do that with an external CD changer which can read those files, but choosing or controlling them would still be a problem. There's a German company working on an interface to enable an iPod to be hooked up to the 50 APS AND be controlled by the buttons in the steering wheel.
