Amplifier Voltage Gain Explained – Matching Amp to …

Solving the equation, we find that 50 watts into an 8 ohm load means our amplifier is delivering 20 volts at full power. Now we simply divide by the amount of gain that the amplifier is providing. Going back to the earlier equation Av = 20 * Log (Vout/Vin) we can perform a bit of mathematical manipulation and say 10^ (Av/20)=Vout/Vin.

The peak of the sine wave can only get to within approx 2V to 6V of the 30V supply rail. This limitation results in another 4% approx loss. At lower power the efficiency decreases. At 1/2 power the amplifier is approx 50% efficient, at 1/4 power the amplifier is approx 30% efficient.

Voltage regulator is on the new alt. I’ve gone through all my wiring to the amp multiple times. I’ve tried many different grounds on the amp with no success. I believe it to possibly a ground somewhere else but am not sure where to look. My battery already has 3 grounds on it with 2 of zero gauge wire. All grounds are on bare metal.
