12V Car Audio amplifier circuit 50W-65W. This is a car 12V audio amplifier circuit that has high power over than 50w Using the IC TDA1562Q …
Signal Detecting Auto Power-On Unit - The Audio Pages ...
https://sound-au.com/project38.htm
The circuit presented here will operate with a signal of 10mV (RMS), which will be adequate for all but the quietest listening. 10mV represents a typical power of about 6mW into an 8 Ohm speaker with a typical amplifier. That means a sound level of around 62dB SPL with typical speakers.
Auto Power off for Audio Equipment Circuit Diagram
https://circuit-diagramz.com/auto-power-off-audio-equipment/
Note that the ground potential of the audio amplifier is raised to about +4.5V in the auto power off circuit by means of R 1 , R 2 and R 3. When the audio signal is greater than 50 mV, (i.e. 4.05 V with respect to the circuit ground) the output of IC 1A goes high and transistor T 1 starts to conduct. Consequently C1 is charged rapidly, so that ISO1 continues to conduct and …
Turning Stereo Amplifer on and Off Automatically ...
https://www.instructables.com/Turning-Stereo-Amplifer-On-and-Off-automatically/
If source is playing then the unit will turn amplifier on by using the sending the remote infrared code to turn it on, and when idle for some time, the unit will send the power off remote infrared code to turn off the amplifier. The code here is set to work with a Kenwood 6030 amplifier. If you have a different gear, no fear.

Fig. 4: Circuit Diagram of Automatic Gain Control with Amplifier. The capacitor C1 couples the audio signals from the output of the op-amp to the base of the PNP transistor. The converts the AC signal coupled from the op-amp output to a DC equivalent voltage with the help of the C2 and R4. The operation of the Q1 and the C2 and R4 are very much ...
Auto power on amp with audio signal : diyaudio

Method: I came across this project which uses an Arduino for IR control of power, which accomplishes what I want, except that the DTA-1 doesn't have IR control. It seems like the best way would be to have a relay on the 12v power to the amp triggered by the audio signal, with some delay/smoothing so it doesn't cycle the amp between tracks.
Circuit-Audio Signal Detector/SwitchHobby Corner
http://www.discovercircuits.com/H-Corner/audiosignal%20detector%20switch.htm
For some audio systems it is desirable to have an automatic switch circuit turn on other devices, such as an Amplifier, if an audio signal is detected on one line. The hobby circuit below will activate a transistor switch when it detects at least 50mv peak to peak of an audio signal.

so thats what a auto power off would helpful for that real world issue. Also for battery operation amps with extras like tone boards powered by regulators, a auto power off would give a lot of peace of mind that if and when left with no more music playing, it wont drain the battery anymore . •••. More options.
