I have heard and have visited many times with Brian Cheney of VMPS as I once lived in the Bay Area near him. He is a great guy; a little tempermental at times, but a passionate designer who builds a very high quality speaker at a very affordable price.

VMPS There's an active VMPS forum at Audio Circle. Not too busy any longer. But another good source for info. VMPS Forum As to the OP, the Strathearn ribbon drivers, in your speakers were very rare. So, no surprise not many of the VMPS Wide Range Ribbons are available.

VMPS did have some speakers with great reviews. The company started in 1977 and closed after the founder, Brian Cheney, died in 2012. IIRC they had a forum at Audio Circle. Some or most of their speakers had a tunable PR. To tune the bass, you added or removed Moretite putty from the cone of the PR. I've never auditioned any.

Yeah go ask the VMPS forum on Audiocircles (actually) for their opinion. Hmm, wonder which one they will advise you to go with?
