The Ubuntu version of amdgpu does not list the 390 as a supported model. It's also unclear to me whether the Ubuntu version of amdgpu supports display port pass through audio. The help page explicitly says it does not support HDMI audio pass through but makes no mention of display port pass through.

Hello! I have problems to get Audio through displayport over e-port plus PD02X. I have a Dell Latitude E7240 Notebook on the docking station e-port plus with Ubuntu 16.10 installed. Audio is supported through HDMI on Notebook but not on displayport over docking station. In Windows it is working correctly but i can't get it working on Ubuntu Linux.
