A couple of days ago I installed the latest skype on my Ubuntu 16.04 desktop. Upon initial install Skype detected my active output and input channels on the Focusrite Scarlett USB device. However later on subsequent reboots skype only detects the Intel PCI hardware (not connected) or sometimes detects no devices at all!
