Never heard the L2, but I do think the SM-70s may like a valve pre. They did not like my Rothwell passive. Then again possibly it was my Audio Note Transport, Perpetual Technologies P3/Pa, Dac, Modright PSU, they did not like !!!

It is the best Pre I have heard in my system, and got the better of other, more expensive Pres. The guy I bought it from had sent it to Definitive Audio not long before selling it to me, to be upgraded to the max.

The L2 is quiter a nice Pre in stock form with its valve regulated psu PIO coupling caps & two levels of gain. It also uses the Noble volume & balance pots. PvW's psu mod will have helped too so provided the price is reasonable it'd be a good buy. NB it is slightly wider than a standard 430mm item so check it'll fit your rack!
