That is why it does not work - A Line In port is just a two channel (stereo) input. A Mic input has the mic audio and +5VDC on the "ring" part of the jack as computer Mic's need the +5VDC to work. There is nothing in the Realtek HD Manager (at least in mine) to reassign the mic jack to a Line In jack. Try recycling the Realtek sound.
