2011 Macbook Pro. 3 week old Vizio 42" smart HDTV. 15" HDMI to Thunderbolt cable off Amazon. First the obvious: System Pref - Display - Mirror, etc. Then in System Pref - Sound - Sound Effects, make sure that "Play sound effects through" is clicked on your tv.
