The Soro is very well designed and uses high quality components and a very simple signal path. My Belles use the latest crossover from Klipsch and they are rated at 103db sensitivity. I suggest very sensitive horn speakers need to be driven with a little subtlety.

The amplifier comes with nice gold knobs on an acrylic facsia. The looks are somewhat similar to the Oto SE. I would of course prepferred it if the nice glowing tubes are exposed for aesthetic as well as ventilation reasons. I used the amplifier to listen to light jazz and voclas.

The SORO is unbelievably good product. Believe it or not it is actually warmer sounding compared to the OTO. It also has ~ 18 watts compared to ~ 10. I sell more SOROs then I do OTOs. The Soro is a great piece for the money and has plenty of power when compared to most SET amps. I would take the Audio Note over the ASL any day. I owned a P2SE amplfier (what is in the Soro) for about ten years; wonderful amp that is going to be replaced by a much more expensive custom built 300b single ended amp.

From memory, even though the SORO SE was more powerful, it was not as quick or agile sounding. I don't think the SORO SE was really ever positioned as an upgrade to the OTO SE, but rather as an alternative, just like the MEISHU. Each uses a different compliment of tubes and none sound like the other.

For reasons that aren’t worth going into, I tried to scale down to lesser equipment but missed that Audio Note sound. I now have a mostly Audio Note system again, although I now have the OTO Phono SE Signature, which I think sounds better than the Meishu, although I still have WE300Bs in my Woo WA5-LE V2 headphone amplifier.
