I have done all the recommended "fixes" for hardware and drivers. Sometimes it seems like it is fixed, only to reboot and have the problem occur again. I have a built PC with a Asus Rampage Formula motherboard, using Windows 7 Ultimate. Again, I think there is some problem with the headphone/speaker sensing protocol in Windows 7.
