Audio or linear taper pots? What’s the difference ...

    https://www.hoaglandcustom.com/2017/05/15/hello-world/
We prefer linear taper pots in the tone position for the control that they give you. A slight bump in a linear taper pot will give you a slight signal increase. That same slight bump with an audio taper pot might give you a BIG …

Potentiometers: Audio vs. Linear Tapers

    https://www.jameco.com/Jameco/workshop/circuitnotes/Potentiometers-audio-taper-vs-linear.html
Potentiometer taper is the relationship between the position and resistance of the pot. In a linear taper the relative position is equal to the resistance ratio. For example, rotating the potentiometer to 50% will cause the pot to function at 50% of the maximum resistance. Linear tapers can be good for adjusting lighting through light dimmers or for motion control. Non-linear tapers are …

linear taper v. audio taper pots? | Telecaster Guitar Forum

    https://www.tdpri.com/threads/linear-taper-v-audio-taper-pots.309826/
If we use a linear taper potentiometer in a standard volume control circuit, we will hear “10” as only twice as loud as “1.” If we use an audio taper pot, “10” will sound ten times as loud as “1,” which is what we expect. Since 10=10 no matter what, an audio taper pot will have a much lower level “1” than a linear taper pot."

Tone Pots: Audio or Linear taper? | The Tone Rooms

    https://www.thetonerooms.com/threads/tone-pots-audio-or-linear-taper.5703/
Originally, the pots are a 500k audio taper Volume pot and a 250k audio taper Tone pot feeding a P90. I'm trying a 500k linear pot for the tone, and I'm not digging it any more than the 250k audio pot that was in there originally. Should I expect a 500k audio taper be significantly different from a 500k linear?

Audio or Linear Pots? — Six String Supplies

    https://sixstringsupplies.co.uk/pages/audio-or-linear-pots
Guitar pots generally fall into two taper categories – audio and linear. This describes the point of resistance as the pot is turned. For example, a linear pot has a uniform taper – when the pot is turned to its halfway point of the cycle (50%), it will reach 50% of its total resistance, hence the name linear. It is ba

Audio or Linear taper tone pots?? | Gretsch-Talk Forum

AFAIK tone pots should be linear taper. Audio taper is logarithmic with fast, coarse adjustment at one end and slow, very fine at the other. Linear taper pots should roll off the highs in an even, more controllable way. I'm wondering because a number of vendors recommend their CTS audio taper pots for both volume and tone.

Linear vs audio taper for volume pot? | The Gear Page

    https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/linear-vs-audio-taper-for-volume-pot.2270640/
Our ears' perception of volume is not linear therefore audio taper (log) pots adjust volume in a fashion that makes the sound appear to be linear throughout the range. Linear pots adjust gain in a linear fashion, irrespective of how volume is perceived, which has the effect on the ear of a steep curve where anything less than 7 is essentially off.

What are Audio Taper Potentiometers?

    http://www.learningaboutelectronics.com/Articles/What-are-audio-taper-potentiometers
Audio taper potentiometers are the potentiometers that are used for volume control in audio devices. This includes headphones, headsets, computer speakers, or any volume-altering devices. The main thing differentiating audio taper potentiometers from others is that audio taper potentiometers are log tapers. Most potentiometers used are linear tapers, …

POTS ???? AUDIO or LINEAR TAPER ?? | The Les Paul Forum

    https://www.lespaulforum.com/index.php?threads/pots-audio-or-linear-taper.107041/
With linear tapers on the tone, the change is too gradual for most people; they have to turn down to 3 or 4 to get the sound they want, but audio is quicker=better. On the volume pot the "roll back" from 10 to 7 is also pretty dramatic. The linear pots give you more gradual taper as you clean the guitar's sound up.

Audio or linear taper for blend pot? | SevenString.org

    https://www.sevenstring.org/threads/audio-or-linear-taper-for-blend-pot.115956/
In this case you want audio taper. With linear taper, you won't hear a blend, it'll sound more like a 3-way switch. Unfortunately, most blend pots I've tried so far are non-overlapping linear taper, even though they're advertised as audio taper. And the one audio taper blend pot I tried was overlapping, thus a significant drop in volume in the middle.
