I have an old Panasonic home theater system (SA-PT860) which was happily connected to my old Panasonic plasma TV. I upgraded my TV to a new 4K Panasonic TX-65CX700B and when I try to connect the TV to home theater via HDMI, I don't get any sound.

Panasonic UB820 plays DTS-HD on Receiver with Discs but not USB Files. For some reason when I play 4K and Blu-Ray discs the DTS-HD audio works fine but when I try to play a DTS-HD file from USB there is no sound. I do have an older receiver but this was never a problem with my Oppo 93. Any suggestions? I'd recommend that you buy an nvidia shield.

It delivers picture and stereo sound to the TV (via HDMI) and 5.1/DTS to my receiver (via optical audio out), both flawlessly. I also have a Time Warner HD cable box connected to the TV's HDMI input (I have a switcher). Again, no audio problems with digital audio feed to the receiver. I don't think there's a problem w/ Panasonic TV HDMI.

As for your cable box audio, the red/white RCA cables will provide stereo sound. They can be connected to any available inputs on your AVR.
