In the past I've owned single-ended-triode (SET) amplifiers based on designs with 45, 2A3, 300B, and 845 / 211 vacuum tubes, and I've enjoyed every one of them. I drifted away from SET amplifiers over the last so many years because I felt that their ability to drive my Tannoy Westminster Royal SE loudspeakers to live-like levels was sub-optimal.

Or, a single ended 211 that will make in the mid 20s of power when pushed into class A2. The 845 cannot be driven into Class A2 is my understanding. The 211 is the tube that Mr Kondo selected for his original Ongaku amplifier in the late 80s.

The VAC Renaissance 70/70 Mk. III amp (not integrated) meets all of those requirements other than being single-ended (it is push-pull), but costs $5k-$6k used and you would need a preamp. The VAC amps do come close to the single-ended sound and avoid the significant disadvantages. Singer in Union Square carries VAC -- ask for Dave Lalin.
