The 100.2 has a slightly more tubelike presentation--warmer thru the midrange, totally grainless but with less authority and control in the bass than the 150.2. The newer 150.2 gives up only a little in the mids, being more neutral and clean but otherwise is as good or better than the 100.2 it replaced in all other respects.

The Audio Research 100.2 power amplifier (I bought a demo model) is paired with an ARC LS16 MKII preamp, Rega Jupiter CD player, ALR/Jordan Take 4 speakers, along with Kimber Kable interconnects and AudioQuest Bedrock speaker cable. I listen to predominately classical music.

I am thinking of buying a audio research 100.2 amp . I am driving monitor audio silver 8 speakers and want a nice warm sound . Is the audio research a good amp @ only 100 watts per channel , or should i step up to a parasound a21 ?
