08-22-2006 7:15pm I have used two D-240's for more than ten years. They are tremendous amps, wonderfully musical and reliable. The first was a MKI which at that time could be upgraded to a MKII by ARC at no charge. I prefer the sound after the upgrade although I didn't have it long as a MKI.

Typical ARC resolution with deep tight bass. Midrange that floats and highs that sound limitless. Very three dimensional as well. It is Very underrated. It’s rated at 120 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 240 watts per channel into 4 ohms. Lots of current, too. The condition is superb. No flaws that I can see. No dings or scratches.

This review is for Audio Research D-300. This model came out in the same year as D-400mkII. It've amazed me how sweet the sound is for a solid state amp. The only different between this amp and the big bother D-400mkII is the wattage. Sonically, this amp produced very tight bass, sweet mid, and very detailed high.
