From what folks say the LS27 is as good, or better than the REF3 As an owner of several 'good' preamps, i say the Audio Research LS27 is a great buy. and a great deal for you with the trade in you can get. I own an ARC Sp-15, a VAC Standard, and a Bryston BP-26 I have to say a really good preamp is always a joy to own.
