The house sound for Audio Research used to be one of a tube warmth. Now it is just really neutral with lots of space between instruments and a rightness to the instrument timbre. And a really gorgeous midrange overall with lots of resolution. I like the Pass gear a lot but I prefer Audio Research over McIntosh.
