The AT120E(/T) is definitely an excellent budget cartridge that is better than many more expensive cartridges of other brands. The frequency response is really very good (it can definitely go up to 25kHz and beyond), soundstage is perfect (the 29dB channel separation is really true) and almost all details can be pushed out of the grooves by this sweetie.

The AT120 is a little more accurate and detailed and for me was a step up. It does pick up a bit more surface noise but not enough to worry about. I tried the AT440MLa but did not like it, too harsh in the high end a picked up all kinds of surface noise, even after changing the input impedance on my phono pre to 32k.

This is actually the AT120Eb so don't be disappointed if you don't get a AT120ET. The Audio Technica LP120-USB turntable ships with the ATN95E Cartridge and it sound good but the the AT120Eb is so much better. To begin, the ATN95E is like a sledge hammer compared to the AT120Eb, no kidding, the differences in size is noticeable.
