The Audio Technica AT440MLA cartridge is an audiophile budget cartridge that packs a huge punch for value. ‘Audiophile’ and ‘budget’ very rarely belong in the same sentence. Cartridge manufacturers over the last decade or so appear to have made an effort to make turntable accessorising a far more affordable venture.

While the AT-440ML is discontinued, Audio Technica has specified the AT-440MLa as the former's replacement. Unfortunately, I think the fulcrum and/or stylus tip of the new replacement is actually inferior.

How does the AT440MLb compare to the AT440MLa? | …

    https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/how-does-the-at440mlb-compare-to-the-at440mla.441137/
I started to think maybe the 440 is wearing rapidly and losing some fidelity which is making me lean towards the 2m blue as far as preference. This was the driving factor to order the 440 replacement stylus now I can swap out the original and compare. $89 for the 440MLB was a no brainer and I will report back.

The review mics (I had the luxury of a pair) came without any manuals or technical notes at all, and I had to surf over to the Audio Technica web site for the published specs. Design & Construction The physical design of the AT4040 SM is shared with the other 40-series models, although it is the lightest of the bunch, at just 360g (thanks ...

Audio-Technica AT4040 and AT4050 – The Tape Op Review. If you read my review of the Shure KSM141 last issue, you know that I rarely spend my own money on mics. Instead, I rely on the kindness of others for most of my transducing needs. The AT4050 is one mic I did actually buy, and it’s been my solitary “good mic” for years now.
