AT-pl120 popping. Ground issue?- Vinyl Engine

    https://www.vinylengine.com/turntable_forum/viewtopic.php?t=43637
Strange thing about this turntable is that there is no ground on the outlet plug, so even though the room is grounded it's not grounding through the plug. Also, there is no place to connect a ground wire from a mixer to the back of the unit. I have the pl120 connected directly to a phono input of my sampler, so I am not using the preamp.

Audio Technica AT PL120 Turntable Reviews - Vinyl Engine

It is a solid heavy performer and has the feel and response of the legendary Technics SL series. It is not quite as good as those, but then again it is a fraction of the price. The one major advantage the Audio Technica PL120 has over the Technics is that has 78RPM. Low noise and adjustability for great tweaking make it wonderful.

AT-LP120-USB ground loop hum. I am getting a huge ground loop hum with a Cambridge Audio 640p preamp. The AT-LP120-USB doesn't have a ground wire or terminal. I have tried changing the headshell / cartridge but that makes only a very small difference. Any suggestions on how to use a preamp requiring a ground with a TT that doesn't have a ground ...

turntable hum, how to eliminate — Polk Audio Forum

    https://forum.polkaudio.com/discussion/106672/turntable-hum-how-to-eliminate
It's a new Audio-Technica PL120 with built in preamp. There was no ground wire with the turntable. The hum is the type I used to get years ago when the ground wire failed with older turntables. Not sure why this turntable doesn't have a ground. I'll try switching the preamp switch off. Thanks for the feedback!!

The playback levels are the same at the same amp volume setting in both 'Phono' and 'Line' modes, so it appears the turned on electronics in the LP120 are inducing a low level hum in the phono cables. I can find no ground point on the LP120, and in any case the symptoms suggest the hum is induced inside the LP120 and not due to ground loops.

Step 2: Find The Ground Wire. Usually, it’ll be attached to the underside of the turntable’s metal chassis. You’ll notice the wire by the unconnected copper spade connector, which is generally a flat piece of metal that has a u-shape carved out if it. There’s no standard color your grounding wire will be, but most are green.
