Coincidentally, I asked Audio Technica this very question last week. Here is the response I got: " The circuitry was through hole mounted on the AT4050/CM5 and it used the AT8441 Shock Mount. The circuitry mounting was changed to surface mount and the AT8441 Mount was replaced by the AT8449 Mount and the mic was renamed the AT4050.
