I'm having a similar problem, except that XBMC isn't recognizing the headphones on Windows 8. I'm on a Lenovo notebook, when I plug the headphone, Windows' sounds switch to the headphones, but XBMC won't change the audio output - nor will anything different show up on Audio output settings.
