Reluctantly, I have decided to sell my AudioTropic Moebius Linestage. It is a wonderful tube preamp that is small, simple and sounds terrific. It is in excellent condition: Rated 8/10, approximately two-years old. This was a show unit that was purchased as used directly from the builder, Eric Kingsbury after it made its rounds around the USA.

When I reviewed the AudioTropic Mœbius, I was impressed with its ability to handle raucous music, hard-driving rock and complex, harmonically rich symphonic fare. The Sound Quest did benefit from the additional clarity and control provided by my AudioTropic Moebius preamp. I felt the same way about the Moebius/Music Machine combination too. And while my preamp seems to do some very good things for 6V6 P-P amps, it is not essential to have a fine preamp to enjoy the SQ-84.

The 180's sounded VERY good with my Audiotropic Moebius preamp, but with all this power on tap, I decided to switch it out for a passive design, a Slagle AVC that I assembled some time ago. Wow... Again I say, WOW! The transparency of the AVC driving the 180's is simply fantastic. The slight veiling disappeared, leaving a Windex clean sound.

I have not used my current amp or speakers with any preamp other than my Audio Tropic Moebius so even subjective comparisons are impossible. I will say without hesitation, that in my system, the Intact Audio AVC is impressive and I suspect it would rub shoulders with any of the numerous preamps I have had in house.
