greens : It looks like a splitter, but it is NOT a Y splitter. It is a 4 pole to dual 3 pole adapter. Often just called 4 pole to 3 pole. Look closely, the Mic/Headphone combo plug has 4 poles (4 sections of metal separated by 3 plastic bands) If you look at a 3 pole you can see it only has 2 of those plastic bands.
