If the wires got hot, then most likely there was a short somewhere. Disconnect the RCA and speaker wires. Now test the amp by itself. If the red light goes out, then it's fine. If it stays on, you've blown the amp. Isolate each problem one by one and you will find the fault.

Even without anything hooked up, the amp still has a red status light (is supposed to be blue). I figure the ground is bad, but I did have a sub with the same amp and wiring before this, and it played fine. Any ideas? btw, I have an Audiobahn HQ4125 amp (2x500W RMS @ 2Ohms/1000x2 @ 1Ohm) and am giving the sub 500 watts.
