You will need a sub with both a line in and line out connection if you want to control the bass on the A5s. I'm assuming you want to high pass the bass on the A5's? If so you will have to run the audio source to the line in of the sub, then the sub output to the speakers, and set the crossover dial on the sub.

I set my sub between approx 100 and 110 so that as the A5's lose the ability to make those low low sounds, the subwoofer picks it up steadily, starting at around 110 and getting louder. For setting the gain, you do that after youve set up the crossover. Just adjust it to where you think the bass is at the right volume.
