Any iPhone or iPad can be used with the USB input on Audioengine speakers, or with external DACs like the D1 or D3. How you'll do so depends somewhat on the iPhone or iPad, and whether you're using speakers, or an external DAC. For the USB input on speakers (A2+, HD3):

Since the D1 DAC works via USB, The DAC takes over the system sound. You can still control volume with the iTunes slider when listening via iTunes, but not sound coming from the Web. Website volume needs to be controlled via the DAC or my A5+ speakers. This is the only part of the system I wish were different, sound control.
